FD Calculator (Fixed Deposit)
Most Indian banks compound FD interest quarterly. Enter the deposit, rate and tenure to see the maturity amount, the interest you earn and the effective yearly yield that compounding gives you.
Quick answer
FD maturity = P × (1 + r ÷ n)^(n × t), where P is the deposit, r the yearly rate, n the compounding periods per year (4 for quarterly) and t the years. ₹1,00,000 at 7% for 5 years, compounded quarterly, matures at about ₹1,41,478.

Frequently asked questions
Is FD interest taxable?
Yes. It is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Banks deduct TDS once interest crosses the yearly threshold; senior citizens have a higher threshold.
Why is my bank's figure slightly different?
Banks may use simple interest for deposits under six months, round each quarter's interest, or count days rather than months.
