Discount Calculator

Check what a deal really costs, or set a sale price for your shop. Add a second discount to see the true combined discount.

Quick answer

Sale price = original price × (1 − discount/100). Two successive discounts of a% and b% equal a single discount of a + b − (a × b ÷ 100) percent, so 20% + 10% is 28%, not 30%.

How to use the Discount Calculator

  1. Enter the original price.
  2. Enter the discount %.
  3. Optionally add a second discount.
  4. Read the final price, savings and effective discount.

Worked example

₹2,500 with 20% + 10% off: after 20% = ₹2,000; after another 10% = ₹1,800. You save ₹700, an effective 28% discount.

Formula

Final = Price × (1 − d1 ÷ 100) × (1 − d2 ÷ 100)
Effective % = (1 − Final ÷ Price) × 100

Frequently asked questions

Is 20% + 10% the same as 30% off?

No. The second discount applies to the already-reduced price, so the combined discount is 28%.
